Our Frequently Asked Questions

  • Getting Started at The CORE Movement Studio

As of Nov. 1, 2025, All new clients to The CORE Movement Studio will be now be required to begin their journey with us by taking a minimum of 2 private sessions or 3 Pilates 101 Group classes prior to being able to register for any of our Group classes. NO EXCEPTIONS. Those whom have prior Pilates experience from other studios may use these sessions to show us what level skills you have been taught which helps us properly determine which classes to place you in going forward.

This policy allows us to give you our undivided attention during your initial sessions with us and provides us the ability to tailor your session to your individual concerns & goals. We start by introducing you to our equipment showing you how to set it up and make any adjustments for height or comfort, next we introduce you to the foundational movements and we discuss any concerns you may have, pain or discomfort you may be experiencing, and introduce you to our class flow.

Private sessions are great for beginners and advanced students alike, as we can take our time learning at your pace, ask any questions in a private setting, get hand on corrections or spotting for skills in challenging positions, learn any modifications and or advancements/ progressions, and review the movement terminology.

Private sessions allows for greater strength & development in your practice at ANY time. Having someone who is focused and assesses your alignment throughout the whole session can help you spot improper alignment and learn to fix imbalances and target your specific goals.

We offer a 1 time only New Client Discount packages for All NEW Clients for both Private Sessions or getting starter with Pilates 101.

(see Deals & Discount page at the top)

  • Are you a Nationally Certified Pilates Trainer

Yes I am a NCPT through the National Pilates Certification Program.

    My registration expires in 2028

  • What should I bring with me?

A small towel, a bottle or cup for water ( we have a filter water refill station and water fountain if needed),

Grip socks are required ! Regular socks will NOT be allowed on the equipment due to safety reasons. Sock bottoms must have non slip grips on them. We sell TAVI, Toesox and the Tucketts line of grip socks in our studio if needed. Prices vary from $15 to $22 plus TX tax.

‍Also for safety and sanitary reasons a reformer/tower mat is also required in our studio for Pilates classes (these help with grip and sweat absorption). Mats must have a non slip rubber backing and it must fit our reformer bed correctly. ( you may NOT use a regular towel ). We recommend Salt & Honey brand and sell this brand in studio for $45 plus tax . If you forget your mat you may rent one daily for $5 per use. ‍

Gloves are recommended for certain wrist-heavy Pilates exercises. (WAGs brand is what I recommend to my clients as it provides proper wrist support for plank work.) These are available for purchase on the booking site as an add on to you class purchase or you may buy in person before your session.

You are welcome to bring your own hand/foot loop straps, handles, or other props you already own to be used in your classes as long as they are safe to use with our equipment and will not void any warranty we have.

We ask that you wear active wear that is form-fitting. It helps the instructor to see your bodies lines better. Overly baggy clothing can get stuck in the equipment.

Please tie back all long hair! Long hair can get tangled or stuck in the equipment.

Deodorant is strongly recommended but please be mindful of other perfumes, lotions, & body sprays you wear (especially if they are overly strong) as they may be a distraction to other people’s senses.

Please DO NOT wear body oils , self tanner or lotions to classes as they can make you slicker and may stain the equipment or make it unsafe to use for certain movements like planking kneeling, or standing work.

***No jewelry is allowed while working with any class equipment. You will be asked to remove it ***

  • What is your cancellation policy?

We have a fair 12 hour cancellation policy for ALL group classes and ALL private & DUO sessions. We are extremely strict about this policy! All clients are required to cancel themself in our booking app from their class as soon as they know they will not make it.

If a cancellation is made 12 hours or more before the start time of your session, it is considered an early cancellation and the class or session is automatically returned to your account.

If a cancellation is made inside the designated 12 hour window, you will lose the private or group class session credit from your account automatically.

Late cancellations take away our limited spots from others who may have wished to come to that days class . Our studio can not guaranty that someone else can take over your spot on such late notice and the wait list we offer only works when people cancel with more than 24 hours notice.

Without timely notice, the class credit for the session will be automatically forfeited in the app (*Unless Accompanied by a MEDICAL PROVIDERS EXCUSED ABSENCE, regarding a medical illness). If you wake up sick, have fever, are in any pain, or are dizzy, we ask that you cancel your session(s) and let us know as soon as you wake up or realize you are not well enough to come to class, if sickness does not get better we’d like you to seek the advice of your doctor before returning to classes. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter. Your Safety is always our priority.

In the event of an act of GOD or Medical emergencies, please let us know ASAP. Make-up credits MAY be issued but are at the sole discretion of the lead instructor and CORE Mgmt and will be determined on an individual case-by-case basis. If you are given a make-up credit please note you will have 7 days from the date of your cancellation to use the makeup credit and the makeup credit can not be used for another makeup session; if you need to cancel the makeup session credit for any reason that credit is automatically forfeited.

If you are allergic or afraid of dogs, unfortunately, this may not be the right studio for you as they will be in the studio daily ( they will not be roaming the studio, they have a separate rooms they will be kept inside of it for safety reason.

They are all friendly. They will to sit in their dog seats inside the dogs office or main office with our studio manger. They like to observe class sessions quietly. We are sorry if this is a inconvenience.

  • Can I bring my kids with me to a session

Unfortunately, not at this time. I am not set up to host children in either of the studios while I am instructing. There is no where for them to sit, watch, or hang out.

If you would like to take a Duo session with your child who is under the age of 16, please let me know before signing up for classes. Minors under the age of 16 will need to 1st have a 30-minute evaluation with me so that I determine your child’s proprioception and see if the movement method chosen is the right fit.

The majority of teens that I work with are heavily involved with outside sports like Ballet, Gymnastics, Golf, Dance, etc.

  • Can I call to discuss booking a session?

Yes, however, I am teaching throughout the day and we leave the phone on silent so no one will answer the phone during class times. I prefer that you use the booking page to set up a FREE 5-15 minute phone consultation ( under the category tab on the booking page)

When I’m working with clients or teaching classes I give them my full attention and respect their time by not checking my phone or having the ringer on. By booking a call in the calendar, you are ensuring that I will call you at the time you set, and I can plan to give you my fullest attention during your booked call time slot.

You are also free to email, but note emailing us is the slowest form of communication as we check emails at the end of the day or following day and emails are typically responded to late evenings or next day.

  • What is a Duo Session?

A duo session is a shared Pilates session with a partner of your choosing ( usually a spouse, friend, or family member). This option is for those who want or like working out with someone they know. The Duo sessions are 1 hour and the cost of the private is split. Each person pays $50 for that hour and they book their session separately ( but at the same time slot as their duo person) as every person needs to book for themselves.

  • What if my Duo Partner needs to cancel their booking?

If your duo partner cancels their scheduled session for any reason, the other party has 2 options, keep their session and pay the difference for the class now being a single private session ($100 to $150; so an additional payment would be needed before the session), or you can have a 30 min private session with the class credit already purchased .

  • Do you offer group classes ?

Yes we currently offer a variety of small group classes. 2 Private sessions or 3 Pilates 101 classes are a prerequisite to join any group classes !

At the CORE Movement Studio our Group classes are limited to 3-6 clients per class MAX! ( depending on class type)

What makes our Group classes different:

~ All Class Capped at 6 People: Guaranteeing individual personal attention each session ( when the instructor deems it’s needed or the client has requested).

~ We offer more than just reformer classes. We offer various classes weekly to chose from: Gain experience with more than just the reformer with multiple Pilates apparatus. From our split pedal Combo chairs with optional handle bars, our reformers with towers, our Cadillac, CoreAlign , and Cardio classes are offered to keep clients progressing and challenged.

~ Expert-Led Coaching: Expect detailed cues and hands on corrections ( when needed , verbal cues also offered).

Our small groups ensure you get personal attention each session while also enjoying a supportive community.

    The Difference:

To often Large Group classes ( studios with 8, 12, 20 or more clients in a class) can be an overwhelming challenge for an instructor who is often alone and having to manage all those moving bodies at once. Realistically 1 instructor is not able to watch all those bodies in class and will miss when some clients are not in proper alignment for the movement. Not being aligned or having improper form during movement can lead to the body making compensations elsewhere. It is also easy to fall into mindless movement patterns ( where you are moving but not actively working the proper muscles).

Additionally, bad form or not using the proper tension/weight load for YOUR body can lead to injuries down the road.

  • Do you have a waitlist?

Pocketsuite our current booking app does have a wait-list option for Group classes only. If the class is full you will be asked if you wish to join the wait list for that class. it will take a credit to hold the spot on the wait list, if you do not get into that class the credit is returned to your account. You will be notified up to 24 hours before a class if you got off the wait list. The day of the class you are free to check the booking calendar to see if a spot opened up within the 24 hours since the wait list turned off. You may try to contact the studio but as I am teaching all day I may not be able to assist in a timely manner.

  • What payment methods to you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards. We also accept FSA & HSA cards if you qualify through your provider.

Please purchase your credits on the PocketSuite links throughout our website. Please Note there is a 3% automatic surcharge added to your invoice. We do not add tax to our services, but TX tax will also be added to products purchased from our retail section.

Payment is due immediately after receiving the invoice from us. Invoice texts & emails are sent to the accounts you used to register for classes on our PocketSuite booking page.

All purchases are non-refundable and non-transferable. Expiration dates can NOT be extended.

*Please purchase only what credits you know you will use. CORE Power Packages and “Class” Packs are for those who seek regular class attendance but do not wish to be locked into a contract or ongoing membership . Drop in class options or single classes are also available for those whom want to audition me and my teaching style, those who may not be ready to commit to the movement method they want to try, for those who are visiting town and want to work out, or for those who may need another session added to their Packages

  • Do you accept HSA / FSA card payments ?

    ~HSA~

If your Medical provider has recommended Pilates lessons for your specific health issue, you may be able to use your HSA card (and pre-tax HSA funds) to pay for Pilates sessions. Ask your Provider for a letter of Medical Necessity ( a prescription for Pilates ) stating Pilates is a treatment for your specific condition; keep this and detailed receipts of each visit for your records, Most Insurance companies will require this letter of Medical Necessity to be signed by your Doctor. Please check with your HSA /Insurance provider for more information or to confirm your eligibility as the rules vary depending on the insurance provider, state, and coverage.

    ~FSA~

The IRS permits your FSA funds to be used to cover separate costs incurred at physical therapy facilities or for particular activities (i.e., Pilates lessons) that a patient’s doctor has recommended. The Provider is required to make a declaration ( state in writing via letter of Medical Necessity or written prescription) that Pilates is a treatment that is required to treat your illness or condition, whether it be physical or mental. Make sure your healthcare provider and FSA administrator approve Pilates as a treatment for your medical condition. Please save all your receipts and other supporting documentation related to your HC FSA expenses and claims. The IRS can request to verify the eligibility of your expenses via itemized receipts, or ask to see your letter of Medical Necessity at any time.

  • Do you offer Memberships?

Starting in AUGUST of 2026 we will be offering Membership/Subscription services for our Group Classes. Please only purchase what package level you think or know you can use each month as Memberships do not have the ability to adjust without having to sign new contract agreements each time you need to make a change to your class attendance. This option is perfect for those who commitment to their ongoing regular Pilates practice and don’t want to have to purchase drop-in packages when their credits expire monthly.

CORE Memberships are based on regular weekly attendance. However, you are free to use your credits how you wish within the 4 week billing cycle.
    4 packs = once a week class *

    8 packs = twice a week *

*Full terms and condition can be found in the Membership contract.

  • Why do you need 12 hours lead time to book a sesion?

This is so that we have enough notice to have the studios ready and available for your requested session. If you need a session sooner than 12 hours advance notice, please email us letting us know of your request and we will try to accommodate, however, we do not make any promises that the time requested will be available or that the studio needed is available. From time to time other instructors may be utilizing one or both of the studios or we may be hosting a training session. Deep Cleaning and maintenance are also conducted regularly during non-session hours.

  • What is your inclimate weather policy ?

The CORE Movement Studio will follow all local guidelines during times of severe weather. We will also follow the Conroe ISD school closure schedule when related to extreme weather ( torrential rains, flooding, hurricane, tornadoes , wild fires etc) will we try our best to update clients of cancellations via phone, text, and or email. We will also try to update our social media sites of such cancellations. If we decide to close due to weather your class credits will be refunded to you. Please use your best judgement before going out in bad weather, if you are unsure you want to risk driving in such weather, we strongly incourge you to resechule your class for another day & time or cancel your booking before the 12 hour cancellation policy begins.

  • Class Cancelations by Mgmt

Class space is limited to 3-6 clients max ( depending on class type) and may require a minimum regular attendance in order to continue holding ongoing classes. Classes that consistently have low turn out can be changed to other class types or levels or cancelled completely at Mgmt.’s discretion. All class credits will be refunded in the event of class cancellations by Mgmt. Clients signed up for those classes will be notified by phone, text , and or email. Please make sure you do not have us blocked as SPAM . Class credits will be returned to use for other class dates only and will be given an extended expiration date.

If no one has signed up for a class within 10 hours of that classes start time, the class may be cancelled by MGMT .

  • Why is Pilates so expensive ?

Unfortunately Pilates, CoreAlign, & Gyrotonic Method lessons do cost more than many other fitness regimes. The main reasons for such is due to the costs and time commitment associated with becoming certified and licensed to teach these methods. My trainings cost multiple thousands of dollars and took years to complete (true Pilates training is not done over a weekend or 2 or online !), and regular continuing education costs hundreds to thousands of dollars annually and is required to stay both certified and licensed in all of the methods we offer.

Our Equipment: The Pilates reformer towers we have invested in for our studio cost $7,000.00 each and are meant for daily commercial use! Our Convertible Cadallic & Gyrotonic tower were $10,000 each. Our split pedal chairs also cost thousands. Replacement parts, springs, straps, ropes, props, medical grade disinfecting supplies and overhead are also costly investments. Insurance is another major cost.

And lastly due to our Boutique setting of smaller class sizes & hands on teaching, our costs cannot be offset like they are at gyms & big box franchise locations with a dozen or more clients per session. We ARE not trying to compete with the “FRANCHISE” models that can cut cost by using a unmanageable amount of reformers, or by using AI instructors or TV screens to teach the classes, or by hiring inexperienced instructors.

To see the benefits that Pilates offers you must commit to the practice. It is a investment in your overall health. Pilates lessons are similar to PT rehab sessions or massages, which are also as costly investments.

You must ask yourself how much experience do you want you instructor to have with the movement methods they are teaching ? How much education do they have with that method ? Who certified them and how many hours did their certification take ? Do they keep up with the required continuing education? Not all instructors are educated equally, many lack proper Anatomy & Physiology training ( this matters when you need a modification or you feel any pain or discomfort in class).

Only you can decide what works for you.

  • Can you come teach me in my home?

Yes, however, it depends on many factors:

How far of a commute would it be and what is the time of commute during your requested session?

What equipment do you already own at your location? ( Reformer, Chair, Barre, TRX, Etc.)

How often do you want to train?

~Pricing would be determined on a case-by-case request.

  • When does the new location open ?

We are eagar to open to the public and are currently putting up the final touches and waiting for permits. We anticipate opening this Summer 2026. Please see our New Location tab for more information and to pre-register.
