Experience
I found my love for reformer-based Pilates in late 2015 when a Pilates studio opened up in my local neighborhoods shopping center. As a young girl, I had practiced gymnastics and took dance lessons; and by my 30’s I noticed I was always having pain in my hips, mainly after sitting which I did all day at work. After having an MRI, I was told I had arthritis in my hips that they normally see in 80 year olds. And they suggested surgery. I sought to try something non-invasive and was suggested classical Pilates. I initially only committed to 2 classes a week, thinking I couldn’t find time for any more. I quickly realized the physical and emotional benefits I began to see in my daily life and used up my first package of credits before the month had ended. I then decided to put my health and well-being first, instead of everything else in my life and I committed to practicing 1 our and eventually working upto 2 hours a day 5 days a week. I’ve studied under amazing instructors: Maylin Galarraga Garcia, Lexi Stinger, Melinda Johnson, Bebe Campbell, Rinda Phillips, Luisa Fernanda Núñez, and Angela Donnelly.
After 5 years of daily practice, I felt it was time to deepen my knowledge; I knew there was more I not getting out of large group classes. So prior to COVID, in early 2019, I decided to pursue a 500-hour Pilates certification; studying under Master Trainer Marilyn Harder from Sacramento, California. Marilyn’s specialty was special populations and her training focused on knowing modifications for all body types.
I left the legal field and decided to start teaching full time after I moved in Conroe in 2022. Since then have taught over 2,000 Pilates group classes in the greater Houston area studios. I have hundreds of hours of teaching private one-on-one sessions in various movement methods; ages ranging from 14 years young to 85 years old.
In Dec of 2022, I decided to pursue a new movement method outside of Pilates and found the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM®, studying under Master Trainer Pam Blangy @ Pilates And Motion, in Katy, Texas. I continue to study under various medical professionals, PT’s, and other well known elder Pilates instructors.
In June 2025, I decided to add on to my movement certification and became a Level 1 CoreAlign® trainer/instructor. I Studied under: Carrie A. Lamb, PT, DPT , A Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy, Nationally Certified Pilates Instructor, and Balanced Body Educator.
I hold a 500-hour Pilates comprehensive certification in Mat work, Reformer, Chair, Ladder Barrel, Cadillac, SpringBoard, Spine Corrector, Pilates magical circle, FSM (functional Standing Movement), & TRX suspension training.
I hold a certification from Barre Above with a Pilates focus.
I am currently a Level 1 GYROTONIC Apprentice.
I hold a level 1 certification from Balanced Body in CoreAlign
I attend continuing education workshops monthly.
Prior to moving to Houston and falling in love with Pilates, I was a part time gymnastics coach. I have taught kids ages 2.5 up-to teenagers, from the mommy & me classes, recreational classes, pre-team up to level 4. I held a USGA certification which is no longer active at this time.
If you’d like to know more about me and my experience please just ask. I would love to meet you, discuss your goals, concerns, struggles and help you get started on your journey to a stronger mind, body, & core at The CORE Movement Studio.
